Music Ministry
The Choirs and Folk Groups provide sung liturgy for each of the Sunday Masses and for other church services as requested.
Each choir meets weekly to rehearse and prepare hymns for the Sunday Masses.
The choirs are commissioned on the Sunday closest to St Cecilia Feast Day (22nd November)
Extraordinary Ministers of the Word
The Extraordinary Ministers of the Word proclaim God’s Word at both Sunday and weekday Masses. The co-ordinators organise the rotas in the two churches and help with the training of new readers.
Ministers are commission on ‘Word of God Sunday’ each January (Third Sunday in Ordinary Time)
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
The role of a Eucharistic Minister is one of service to the liturgy, the church and the community. It is assisting the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at mass and also to the sick and housebound and those in Nursing Homes. The co-ordinator organises the rota for the ministers so that it accommodates, for as far as possible, the ministers’ commitments.
New Eucharistic Ministers are commissioned on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
Altar Servers
The Altar Servers perform an important part in the worthy and dignified celebration of the Liturgy. Altar Servers normally serve at a chosen Sunday Mass and assist with additional services during Holy Week and Easter. Any boy or girl, aged 9 – 14, wishing to become a server should ask their parent or guardian to contact the Parish Office for more details.
Altar Society
The Altar Society is responsible for the floral arrangements and altar displays for Christmas, Lent, Easter, First Communion and Confirmation and other specific occasions in both churches.
The Altar Society meets weekly.
Children’s Liturgy Team
The Children’s Liturgy Team invites children of primary school age to join a special Children’s Liturgy during part of the 10.30am Mass each Sunday. During this special liturgy the leaders deliver the Gospel message of the day in a child-centred way, read a simple form of the Gospel and provide opportunity for the children to discuss and complete related activities.
The Volunteers meet weekly and work on a rota basis.
