Aims of the course:
Organizer: The Natural Family Planning Teachers’ Association of Ireland is a member of The European Institute for Family and Life Education. The Course Director is Dr Deirdre Gleeson.
Accreditation: The course meets the required NFP teacher training course standards and is accredited by The European Institute for Family and Life Education.
Participants: The course is suitable for anyone interested in teaching and promoting the art of natural family planning. The course will also be helpful to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers engaged in providing family medical care. Attendance at lectures and study time entitles participants to claim for continuous professional development CPD points.
Course outline: The theoretical part of the course will be held over 6 Saturdays (in person) and 9 Mondays (online) from January to April 2024 and will cover the medical and scientific knowledge of fertility awareness. The practical part (apprenticeship) takes place from June to April 2024 and allows participants the opportunity to teach the Symptothermal Double Check Method of Family Planning to 3 couples, under supervision. During the course participants are also required to research and write a dissertation on a topic of their choice related to natural family planning.
Certificate: Participants will be eligible to sit the examination for The Natural Family Planning Teachers’ Certificate (NFPTC) awarded by the NFPTAI and accredited by EIFLE.
